About BTRC

Recovery Is More Than Physical

At Behavioral Trauma Recovery Center (BTRC), we understand that after an accident, the pain is not always visible.

Many people walk away from a crash or injury trying to manage more than physical symptoms. They may begin struggling with anxiety, fear, sleep problems, mood changes, trauma responses, panic, or difficulty getting back to normal life. These emotional effects are real, and they can impact work, relationships, confidence, and overall recovery.

That is where BTRC comes in.

We help injured individuals address the emotional and psychological effects of trauma through focused, professional behavioral health care designed for the real-life impact of an accident or injury.

Why BTRC Matters

Too often, the emotional side of an injury is overlooked.

A client may be dealing with:

  • fear of driving or riding in a vehicle

  • anxiety after the accident

  • nightmares or poor sleep

  • mood changes or depression

  • trauma-related stress

  • difficulty concentrating, functioning, or feeling like themselves again

These struggles are common, but many people do not know where to turn for help. In many cases, they never receive the support they need, and an important part of their recovery is left untreated.

BTRC was created to fill that gap.

We believe people deserve care that sees the whole impact of an injury, not just what shows up on an X-ray or in a medical chart.

Care for Clients. Value for Law Firms.

BTRC is built to serve both injured clients and the law firms advocating for them.

For clients, we provide access to compassionate, trauma-informed behavioral health support that helps them begin healing emotionally, mentally, and functionally after an accident.

For law firms, we provide a trusted resource for clients whose emotional distress, trauma symptoms, or behavioral health needs may be affecting their recovery and quality of life. We help address an area that is often missed but deeply important.

Our team works with reputable personal injury firms of all sizes, including both large firms and boutique practices, and we understand the importance of professionalism, responsiveness, and client-centered care.

A Nationwide Network of Licensed, Trauma-Trained Therapists

BTRC operates through a nationwide network of licensed and trauma-trained therapists committed to helping injured individuals recover.

Our clinicians are experienced in supporting clients dealing with:

  • accident-related anxiety

  • trauma responses

  • fear and emotional distress

  • depression after injury

  • sleep disruption and nightmares

  • reduced functioning after traumatic events

Because of our network model, we are able to connect clients with qualified providers across multiple locations and offer telehealth options when appropriate. This helps expand access to care while maintaining a strong standard of professionalism and clinical quality.

What Makes BTRC Different

BTRC is different because we recognize that emotional injuries deserve attention too.

We are focused on:

  • the psychological effects of accidents and injuries

  • trauma-informed care for injured individuals

  • helping clients feel supported, understood, and stabilized

  • working with law firms in a professional and responsive manner

  • making high-quality behavioral health care more accessible through a broader therapist network

We understand that many injured clients are trying to appear “fine” while silently struggling with fear, stress, anger, sleep problems, emotional instability, or trauma-related symptoms. Our role is to help them receive the support they need and begin moving forward.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide high-quality, trauma-informed behavioral health care for individuals impacted by accidents and injuries while helping ensure the emotional side of recovery is recognized, supported, and never overlooked.

At BTRC, we believe true recovery means caring for the whole person.

For Clients and Firms Ready to Take the Next Step

Whether you are an injured individual looking for support after an accident, or a law firm seeking a trusted behavioral health partner for your clients, BTRC is here to help.

Because recovery is not only physical — and the emotional impact matters too.

Leadership That Understands the Bigger Picture

BTRC was developed with a unique understanding of the connection between trauma, clinical care, documentation, and advocacy.

The organization is led by Dr. Kerry L. Shipman, whose background includes legal education, leadership, public service, criminal justice, and higher education. That legal and leadership foundation helps shape BTRC’s approach to working in a space where behavioral health needs often intersect with injury claims, case timelines, and the broader recovery process.

This is important because BTRC was not created as a general practice trying to fit into the personal injury world. It was built with a clear understanding that clients need more than therapy alone — they need care delivered with professionalism, structure, and awareness of the bigger picture.

In addition, BTRC has a Medical Director on the team, further strengthening our multidisciplinary approach and commitment to quality, oversight, and responsible care.
